LedZeppelin 100709 Zeppelin Classics Get An R&B KickTwo Led Zeppelin classics are enjoying a new twist, thanks to R&B icon Mary J Blige. For her upcoming release, the singer joined forces with Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker, American Idol‘s Randy Jackson and guitarist Steve Vai to record a new version of Zep’s 1971 mega-hit, “Stairway to Heaven.”

According to a recent interview with MTV, the singer also recorded a cover of “Whole Lotta Love,” and both tracks will be released on a special edition of her 2009 album, Stronger With Every Tear, which is due out on March 22.

“I did Led Zeppelin’s ‘Stairway to Heaven’ and ‘Whole Lotta Love’ – it’s crazy,” she said. “I am a Led Zeppelin fan. I’m not going to say I’ve been to their concerts, but I’ve listened to their music since I was a child, and it’s always moved me, especially ‘Stairway to Heaven,’ and ‘Whole Lotta Love’ is just fun.”
