[lastfm]Green Day[/lastfm] will hit the road once again to tour behind their 21st Century Breakdown album. The tour will kick off August 3 in Camden, New Jersey, and wrap up September 2 in Chula Vista, California.
AFI is set to open all 14 dates for the pop-punk trio. Tickets go on sale Friday through Live Nation.
Rolling Stone has speculated that the four-day break in Green Day’s touring schedule, which follows the Buffalo, New York, show on August 5, could mean that Green Day will be heading to Chicago to play at Lollapalooza. The annual music fest, scheduled to take place August 6-8, has yet to announce its lineup.
Green Day will also see the launch of its American Idiot musical on Broadway on April 20 at the St. James Theatre in New York. The musical, based on the band’s 2004 album, originally premiered on the West Coast at the Berkeley Repertory Theatre and is currently running preview performances.
