A two-month festival dedicated to [lastfm]John Lennon[/lastfm] will take place in the U.K. later this year. The festival, set to take place in Liverpool, will run from October 9, which would have been Lennon’s 70th birthday, to December 9, the day after the 30th anniversary of his death.
A series of events is planned, which will feature Lennon’s music, films, art and poetry. Liverpool Lord Mayor Mike Storey said the event was a great opportunity to “remember him as a man, celebrate his music, and his overall contribution to our city.”
“John Lennon is one of the most iconic figures of the 20th Century,” Storey said.
“A Liverpool lad who became known in every corner of the globe, his enduring message of peace is as important now as ever and continues to be an inspiration to many,” he added.
This year also marks the 50-year anniversary of their formation, and the 40-year anniversary of their breakup.
