[lastfm]Elton John[/lastfm] will headline the lineup for next week’s Idol Gives Back episode. The singer will perform on behalf of his Elton John AIDS Foundation, for which he has raised $220 million in the U.S. and the U.K. since the early 1990s.
The show is planned for April 21 and will be broadcast on Fox. It raised more than $140 million in 2007 and 2008, but there was no show last year due to the economic crisis.
[lastfm]Alicia Keys[/lastfm], [lastfm]Carrie Underwood[/lastfm], the [lastfm]Black Eyed Peas[/lastfm], [lastfm]Annie Lennox[/lastfm], [lastfm]Jeff Beck[/lastfm], [lastfm]Joss Stone[/lastfm] and [lastfm]Mary J. Blige[/lastfm] are also expected to perform.
The Children’s Health Fund, Feeding America, Malaria No More, Save the Children and the United Nations Foundation are among the charities that are expected to benefit from the show.
