“A Day In The Life” Lyrics To Be Auctioned
A set of hand-written lyrics by [lastfm]John Lennon[/lastfm] are slated to go up for auction.
The lyrics to the [lastfm]Beatles[/lastfm] classic “A Day in the Life” are expected to sell for between $500,000 and $700,000 at a Sotheby’s action on June 18. The estimates do not include a buyer’s premium.
The words to the hit song are on a double-sided sheet of paper, written in Lennon’s handwriting. The sheet also includes editing marks. The lyrics once belonged to Beatles road manager Mal Evans, according to a Sotheby’s press release.
“A Day in the Life” was the final track on 1967’s Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. The song was ranked number 26 on Rolling Stone‘s 500 Greatest Songs of All Time list. The album was ranked at the top of the Billboard 200 for 15 straight weeks.
