Italian opera star [lastfm]Andrea Bocelli[/lastfm] and Canadian rocker [lastfm]Bryan Adams[/lastfm] will close out next month’s World Cup soccer tournament in South Africa with a special performance.
According to Computicket, Bocelli will be joined onstage in Johannesburg by a flautist and his compatriot [lastfm]Andrea Griminelli[/lastfm], as well as a local 60-member choir.
Billboard reports that Adams and South African soprano [lastfm]Pretty Yende[/lastfm] will join the Italian tenor onstage for the special performance.
The concert will take place on July 9, two days before the finale of the month-long soccer competition.
The World Cup will also kick off with a special concert featuring [lastfm]Alicia Keys[/lastfm], [lastfm]Shakira[/lastfm] and the [lastfm]Black Eyed Peas[/lastfm]. The Vancouver Sun reports that the concert lineup has been criticized for not including any local talent on the bill.
