metallica 1027091 Metallicas Master Of Puppets Named #1 Heavy Metal Album[lastfm]Metallica[/lastfm]‘s classic 1986 album Master of Puppets has been picked as the number one heavy metal album of all time by Musicradar.com. The website says the album was the undisputed winner, earning 20 percent of the final vote.

[lastfm]Smashing Pumpkins[/lastfm] frontman Billy Corgan described the album as “smart metal at its greatest level.”

Metallica made another appearance in Musicradar’s top five. Ride the Lightning came in at number four.

Other albums to make the top 5 include [lastfm]Iron Maiden[/lastfm]‘s The Number Of The Beast at number two, [lastfm]Guns N’ Roses[/lastfm]‘ Appetite for Destruction at number three and [lastfm]Slayer[/lastfm]‘s Reign in Blood at number five.
