New Rush Doc Wins Tribeca Audience Award, Will Hit U.S. Theaters This Summer
A new documentary about prog-rock gods [lastfm]Rush [/lastfm]is set to hit select theaters across the country this summer. The film, Rush: Beyond The Lighted Stage, recently won the Audience Award at New York’s Tribeca Film Festival and will open nationally in June.
In addition to the upcoming film release, Rush is also keeping busy working on music for a new studio album and has also recently announced a 40-date U.S. tour.
“We were off for a year and a half, and now it’s just pouring,” guitarist Alex Lifeson said in a statement. “Everything is totally crazy and there’s not a minute left in the day. We’ve got these half-dozen songs, and we’ll probably go in the studio and work on a couple of them and see how it goes, perhaps release something – and I say perhaps – and then we plan on being on the road.”
Rush’s summer Time Machine Tour will kick off on June 29 at the Journal Pavilion in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and run straight into the fall, where they’ll wrap up at the Cruzan Amphitheatre in West Palm Beach, Florida, on October 2.
