[lastfm]Gorillaz[/lastfm] will be undertaking a five-date U.K. tour this autumn after playing at the Roskilde and Benicassim festivals this summer.
The band, which recently released its newest album, Plastic Beach, will kick off their Escape to Plastic Beach tour in Birmingham on September 10, followed by shows in Newcastle (9/11) and Manchester (9/12). They will wrap up the tour with shows in London September 14 and 15. Many of their regular collaborators, including ex-[lastfm]Clash [/lastfm]band members Mick Jones and Paul Simonon, [lastfm]Mos Def[/lastfm], [lastfm]De La Soul[/lastfm], and [lastfm]Shaun Ryder[/lastfm], are expected to join them throughout the tour.
“We put more into a single Gorillaz show than most bands do playing a lifetime . . . while making 10 times as much in the process,” frontman Damon Albarn said. “But it’s not about balancing the books. I’ve no interest in that. It’s about making you feel like you’re watching the greatest show on earth.”
