Courtney Love’s Last Conversation With Kurt Was About Money
[lastfm]Courtney Love[/lastfm] has revealed that the last conversation she had with her late husband, legendary [lastfm]Nirvana [/lastfm]rocker Kurt Cobain, was about money.
According to a recent interview with Fuse Television, the [lastfm]Hole[/lastfm] frontwoman explained that she had been misled to think they were hard up for cash and was therefore trying to convince Cobain to accept a headlining slot on the 1994 Lollapalooza tour.
“Our last conversation? It was about getting him into rehab. Oh no, it’s worse than that, my last conversation was if he didn’t do Lollapalooza. It was gross, it was gross . . . like Billy [Corgan of [lastfm]Smashing Pumpkins[/lastfm]] would make $11.5 million from it. It was the last thing he wanted to hear. He didn’t care,” Love said.
“I got totally put up to it,” she added. “The people around us were f**king evil, like, ‘You guys are going to go broke.’ When he died he had $38 million and no one knows where that went.”
Hole’s most recent album, Nobody’s Daughter, hit stores on April 27.
