The joint project between [lastfm]R.E.M.[/lastfm] guitarist [lastfm]Peter Buck[/lastfm] and [lastfm]Snow Patrol [/lastfm]frontman [lastfm]Gary Lightbody[/lastfm] is prepping the release of a country concept album.
The new band, called [lastfm]Tired Pony[/lastfm], will also receive contributions from actress and singer Zooey Deschanel, according to the BBC. Tom Smith from the Editors will also pitch in for the album.
Tired Pony was first announced in January. “Peter is one of my all-time heroes,” Lightbody told the U.K.’s Q magazine at the time. “I admire his versatility, he can play any stringed instrument and more besides.”
Lightbody has also said that the band will play at least one concert to support the album.
“We just wanted to do a gig as soon as possible, to let people see that it was a proper band, not just this odd floating idea,” Lightbody told the BBC.
