[lastfm]John Fogerty[/lastfm]‘s classic song “Centerfield” will be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame on July 25.
The song, released by Fogerty 25 years ago, has become a mainstay at baseball games and features the sing-a-long lyrics “Oh, put me in coach, I’m ready to play, today.”
“As a little boy I loved baseball. I dreamed about being a major league player. Of course it didn’t work out that way. But to be associated at all, in any way, is a wonderful honor,” the former [lastfm]Creedence Clearwater Revival [/lastfm]frontman says in an official statement.
Other stars to be inducted on July 25 include Andre Dawson, manager Whitey Herzog, and umpire Doug Harvey.
