[lastfm]Christina Aguilera [/lastfm]has shelved plans to hit the road this summer in order to focus on other projects. The singer reportedly felt that she did not have enough time to rehearse for the tour between her new movie and upcoming album release.
“With less than a month between the album release and tour dates [the tour] wasn’t possible,” reps for the singer said in an official statement, adding that new dates will be announced in the near future.
Aguilera’s upcoming album Bionic is set to hit stores on June 8, marking her first new release since 2006’s Grammy Award-winning Back To Basics. The first single off the new record, titled “Not Myself Tonight,” hit radio waves on April 23 and has hit number 23 on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart.
Along with Bionic, Aguilera is also promoting her new film Burlesque, which is slated for release on November 24. The film is a musical that chronicles a small-town girl with a big voice who finds herself onstage at a Los Angeles burlesque club.
