[lastfm]Yoko Ono[/lastfm] is set to appear at the fourth annual Music Seminar with Livings Legends in Cannes, France, at the end of June.
“Yoko Ono needs no introduction to anyone touched by the music scene for more than 40 years,” said Tim Mellors, director of Grey Group, the advertising firm that is running the event.
Mellors, who will interview Ono at the seminar, added, “Her marriage to and influence on [lastfm]John Lennon[/lastfm] is legendary . . . Her deep knowledge of the alternative music scene and people like John Cage, the founder of Fluxus, are seldom given the credit due for their influence on Lennon’s solo career.”
Ono will be speaking at the event about the influence of bands and brands on today’s music scene, and will also touch on her own experimental ventures in music and performance art, her relationship with John Lennon, and raising her son, [lastfm]Sean Lennon[/lastfm].
“Advertising is a new form of the music label,” Josh Rabinowitz, Grey Group’s director of music, said in a statement. “The most popular song in America, as well as around the world, is as likely to come out of a brand’s advertising as it is from a record. It is a brave new world for musicians and Yoko Ono.”
Past seminars have revolved around conversations with [lastfm]Tony Bennett[/lastfm], [lastfm]John Legend[/lastfm], and [lastfm]Donovan[/lastfm].
