Journey Hard At Work On New Album
[lastfm]Journey[/lastfm]‘s sing-along classic “Don’t Stop Believin'” has grabbed yet another generation of new fans after being featured on Fox’s hit series Glee. And, according to guitarist [lastfm]Neal Schon[/lastfm], the group is more than happy to parlay the song’s continued success into headlining festival gigs.
“[The song's success is] brilliant for us and bands like us,” he told Classic Rock magazine. “If people think ‘Don’t Stop Believin” is a Glee song and not one of ours, I don’t mind. Those are brand new fans – I’m happy they like the song, period.”
Schon continued on to explain that some good luck on the road has allowed them to focus in on their new album.
“We did really well the last time we toured in the U.K. [in June 2008], also playing at [last year's] Download [Festival], so we’ve taken the rest of the year off to prepare this new CD,” he said. “Things are on the up-and-up for us over there. It’s great to know that doors are finally opening.” He added, “We’re going to be here [in the studio] for a little bit over a month. Overdubs and vocals are going really well. Kevin [Shirley, producer] has to run off to another project, so we will come back and sing some more in November. The material is extremely strong.”
The new album will follow 2008’s Revelation, which hit number five on the Billboard 200.
