[lastfm]Mark Mothersbaugh[/lastfm] and his [lastfm]Devo[/lastfm] cohorts are set to appear on the 100th episode of Comedy Central’s hit animated series Futurama. The episode, titled “The Mutants Are Revolting,” will feature the new-wave stars engaged in a fight for civil rights on behalf of a mutant group.
The episode is set to air on September 2.
With the appearance, Devo will help promote their new studio album, Something for Everybody, which is set to hit stores on June 15. The album will be Devo’s first new studio set since 1990’s Smooth Noodle Maps.
The band confirmed work on a new album until 2007, when it released a single titled “Watch Us Work It.” Mothersbaugh revealed that work had begun in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.
“After touring sporadically over the past decade but not releasing any new material, Devo are spending December at [the band’s studio] trying to create an album’s worth of new material and contemplating a method of dispersal in the post-record-company world,” he said.
