[lastfm]Ratt[/lastfm] have pulled out of their scheduled European tour dates due to frontman [lastfm]Stephen Pearcy [/lastfm]having to undergo surgery for a hernia, but another complication has arisen, as drummer [lastfm]Bobby Blotzer [/lastfm]was recently arrested on DUI charges.
Blotzer was reportedly intoxicated when he was driving a boat at Lake Havasu in Arizona over Memorial Day weekend. Metal Sludge has obtained documents detailing the arrest. They are available for viewing online.
As for Pearcy, the bandmembers revealed in a statement that doctors expect a full recovery and that they should be back on the road in time for their fall tour with [lastfm]Scorpions[/lastfm].
“RATT have been forced to cancel their upcoming European tour dates,” the statement reads. “Vocalist Stephen Pearcy will be undergoing urgent hernia surgery this week. The band regrets missing the European dates on the heels of the release of their first album in 11 years, Infestation, which enjoyed a high chart debut in European territories.”
The statement adds, “RATT shares this disappointment with all their European fans who planned to attend the shows at Sweden Rock, Sauna Open Air festival, U.K. Download, Hellfest, Graspop and Gods of Metal as well as their other dates. The band is looking into rescheduling as many of the shows as possible.”
Ratt’s newest album, Infestation, hit stores on April 20.
