[lastfm]Bono[/lastfm] took some time off this week from his ongoing physical therapy to have lunch with his old pal, U.S. cycling icon Lance Armstrong.
The [lastfm]U2[/lastfm] frontman underwent emergency back surgery last month after chunks of a broken disk had gotten into his spinal canal. The two reportedly met at Bono’s villa in a village on the French Riviera.
In an update to his Twitter page, Armstrong posted a photo with the rocker and his family saying that he was having “lunch with an old friend.”
As a result of the surgery, U2 was forced to cancel eight weeks worth of dates on their tour, as the singer goes through rigorous physical rehabilitation.
“I was joking earlier on that this is probably the most rest he’ll have in decades, you know the few weeks after the operation,” said The Edge in a statement on U2.com. “But the other thing we have to make sure is that he does follow the doctor’s orders in terms of the program of rehabilitation because knowing him again he’ll probably want to take some short cuts and sort of get ahead of himself.”
