Former BTO Guitarist Charged With Sexual Assault
[lastfm]Tim Bachman[/lastfm], former guitarist of [lastfm]Bachman-Turner Overdrive[/lastfm], has reportedly been charged with with sexual assault of a minor in Abottsford, British Columbia. The 58-year-old was the focus of an 11-month investigation, which started after a teenage girl came forward with the allegations.
According to Abottsford Police Constable Ian MacDonald, the court plans to approach the case with caution, given Bachman’s celebrity status.
“We’re dealing with a historic sexual assault. The parties did know each other,” MacDonald says.
Bachman is facing charges of sexual assault, sexual interference and touching for a sexual purpose, and is currently out on bail with a promise to remain in the area until his upcoming hearing next month. According to the U.K.’s Globe and Mail, the girl was between the ages of 11 and 14 at the time of the alleged assaults.
Tim Bachman is the brother of [lastfm]Randy Bachman[/lastfm], the founding member of BTO.
