[lastfm]Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers[/lastfm]‘ latest album, Mojo, was released today. In addition to the CD and digital release of the album, a 180-gram vinyl disc and Blu-ray editions of Mojo will also be released on June 29.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, Petty noted of the recording process, “I’m writing it for the band to play.”
The release marks the band’s first studio album since 2002’s The Last DJ, and was recorded live with no overdubbing.
Two album tracks, “First Flash of Freedom” and “Good Enough,” are available for streaming on the band’s website.
The group has also added additional dates to the end of their summer tour, which will now wrap up on October 2 in Irvine, California. The run will stop in such cities as Seattle, Cincinnati, Chicago, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Nashville, Dallas and Los Angeles.
