Ramones Drummer Suing For Back Royalties
Legendary [lastfm]Ramones[/lastfm] drummer [lastfm]Marky Ramone[/lastfm] is reportedly suing the firm responsible for handling the band’s royalties. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer claims he is owed $175,000 in back royalties and is suing for an additional $1 million in punitive damages.
According to a new report from TMZ, Ramone signed a deal with a new company in 2005 but has not seen any royalty payments since 2008. The drummer’s claim has been filed with the New York State Supreme Court.
The Ramones have also made recent headlines for their association with CBGB Holdings LLC, who purchased the name and copyrights of legendary former New York punk venue CBGB. CBGB Holdings filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy earlier this month. It has been reported that the company has listed debts between $1 million and $10 million.
