The [lastfm]Smashing Pumpkins[/lastfm] frontman [lastfm]Billy Corgan[/lastfm] was on hand to welcome rock legends [lastfm]Rush[/lastfm] into the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Friday. The event took place in front of the Los Angeles Musician’s Institute, with guitarist [lastfm]Alex Lifeson [/lastfm]and bassist [lastfm]Geddy Lee[/lastfm] on hand to accept the honor.
Also present for the event was former Cleveland area DJ Donna Halper, who helped push Rush into the national spotlight with continued support of their self-titled 1974 debut album. Halper told the crowd, “Rush always stayed true to themselves and true to their music, and never lost their integrity.”
The duo thanked both the crowd and Lee, calling the event a “beautiful, surreal moment.” They continued on to say that it has been “quite a trip” all the way “from the suburbs of Toronto to a star on Hollywood Boulevard.”
As for the Smashing Pumpkins, the band will hit the road in support of its current release Teargarden by Kaleidyscope on July 6 at the House of Blues in Cleveland.
