A DVD release of the [lastfm]Beatles[/lastfm]‘ appearances on the Ed Sullivan Show will feature 13 minutes of extra footage that has never been released before.
The two-disc set will contain all four Beatles performances from the Ed Sullivan Show – three from 1964 and one from 1965 – in addition to the rare television footage that few have seen. The bonus material is expected to include a commercial for a Beatles doll and an interview with the Fab Four from their May 24, 1964, appearance, where the group discusses their (at the time) yet-to-be-released flick A Hard Day’s Night.
The DVD package, called The 4 Complete Ed Sullivan Shows Starring The Beatles, is slated to come out on September 7.
The Beatles’ February 9, 1964, appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show, which is contained in the set, had 73 million viewers glued to the T.V. in the U.S. This represented 86 percent of all televisions that were switched on at the time.
