[lastfm]Joe Perry[/lastfm] has confirmed that [lastfm]Aerosmith[/lastfm] has relit their “fire for songwriting.” According to the lead guitarist, a new album could be in the works following the band’s current tour.
In a new interview with Billboard, Perry says that the band’s best work is yet to come, and that they are primed to head back into the studio.
“The bottom line is we haven’t done our best record yet, and we feel like first of all we owe it to ourselves, and second of all we owe it to our fans,” he says in the interview.
Perry goes on to explain that after the band nearly parted ways in 2009, they are now even better than they were in the 1970s.
“Every night that we play, it’s like the best Aerosmith has played in 40 years. It’s been the best tour that I can remember in my life,” he adds.
“We’ve been pulling out some of the old tricks that we used to do back in the 70s, only now it’s a lot better because we’re in a lot better shape. I mean, we’re in the best shape we’ve ever been.”
