The [lastfm]Kills[/lastfm] have recorded a cover of a [lastfm]Velvet Underground[/lastfm]‘s classic track “Pale Blue Eyes” as a free download for Levi’s.
The song, written by [lastfm]Lou Reed[/lastfm], has been covered by a wide range of artists, including[lastfm] R.E.M[/lastfm]., [lastfm]Crowded House[/lastfm], [lastfm]Counting Crows[/lastfm] and [lastfm]Alejandro Escovedo[/lastfm]. It became a regular song in the Kill’s live shows during their tour for their 2008 album Midnight Boom.
The band joins a wide group of artists to release singles for Levi’s Pioneer Sessions, including the [lastfm]Shins[/lastfm], [lastfm]Dirty Projectors[/lastfm], [lastfm]Passion Pit[/lastfm] and [lastfm]She and Him[/lastfm].
Frontwoman and [lastfm]Dead Weather[/lastfm] singer [lastfm]Alison Mosshart[/lastfm] said the band is hoping to release a new album this year, but it depends largely on their label.
“Sadly, it doesn’t all depend on us. Record labels will always take their time with things,” she tells the Las Vegas Sun.
