[lastfm]Jimmy Buffett[/lastfm] played a free concert for the Gulf Coast over the weekend. The show, which was the singer’s way of supporting those affected by the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, took place Sunday evening on Orange Beach in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
The show, broadcast live on CMT, featured Buffett and such guests as [lastfm]Jesse Winchester [/lastfm]and New Orleans musician [lastfm]Allen Toussaint[/lastfm]. [lastfm]Kenny Chesney[/lastfm] and [lastfm]Zac Brown[/lastfm] were originally scheduled to perform as well, but a change in the show’s timing forced them to drop out.
“I saw a sign out there that said, ‘What would Jimmy Buffett do? Throw a party at the oil slick!’” Buffett said. “You’re right!”
Buffett’s set included the hits “Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes,” “Cheeseburger in Paradise,” “A Pirate Looks at Forty” and “Margaritaville.”
