[lastfm]Linkin Park [/lastfm]has confirmed that they will have a new album ready by this fall. The new record, titled A Thousand Suns, will be co-produced by band member [lastfm]Mike Shinoda[/lastfm] with legendary producer [lastfm]Rick Rubin[/lastfm] and will hit stores on September 14.
The band is also reaching out to fans to help make A Thousand Suns truly unique. As part of a new contest titled “Linkin Park, Featuring You,” the band will allow fans to remix their new single “The Catalyst” and will include their favorite mix on the album.
“Our albums are the foundation of who we are as a band, and reserving a spot for a fan to play on one of our songs felt like a way to show our dedication to them,” Shinoda said in a statement.
He went on to say: “There are a lot of unknowns about what might get submitted for this contest, but that’s what makes it fun. Our fans continually energize us with their creativity and dedication, so I think they’re going to come up with something great.”
Fans can sign up for the contest on Linkin Park’s official website. “The Catalyst” is due to hit airwaves across the U.S. on August 2.
