david bowie1 Bowie Tribute Album Slated For SeptemberA new [lastfm]David Bowie[/lastfm] tribute album is set to hit stores on September 6.

The two-disc compilation album, entitled We Were So Turned On, will feature a wide array of musicians covering Bowie’s greatest hits. The collection will include [lastfm]Duran Duran[/lastfm] performing “Boys Keep Swinging,”, [lastfm]Warpaint[/lastfm] playing “Ashes to Ashes” and [lastfm]All Leather[/lastfm] providing a rendition of “Fame.”

Other tracks include [lastfm]A Place To Bury Strangers[/lastfm] covering “Suffragette City,” Swahili Blonde featuring [lastfm]John Frusciante[/lastfm] on the tune “Red Money,” [lastfm]Carla Bruni[/lastfm] performing “Absolute Beginners” and [lastfm]Voices Voices[/lastfm] doing their rendition of “Heroes.”

Due to scheduling conflicts, [lastfm]Soulwax[/lastfm] and [lastfm]MGMT[/lastfm] were not able to participate as they had intended originally.

All profits for the album will be donated to the charity War Child.
