[lastfm]Amy Adams[/lastfm] has signed to star in a new biopic about legendary 1960s singer [lastfm]Janis Joplin[/lastfm].
Adams’ casting is already creating a buzz, since Joplin died at the age of 27 and Adams is already 35.
Wyck Godfrey – producer of the Twilight films – has signed on to produce, though the project has yet to find a studio to back it. There have been several previous attempts at a Joplin biopic, but none have reached theaters.
Adams will next hit the big screen next December in The Fighter, which chronicles the early life of boxing great “Irish” Micky Ward. Her breakthrough role came in 2007’s Enchanted.
