The surviving members of the [lastfm]Cars[/lastfm] have hinted at a possible reunion by posting a photo on Facebook of the bandmembers back in the studio. All surviving members – [lastfm]Ric Ocasek[/lastfm], [lastfm]Elliot Easton[/lastfm], [lastfm]Greg Hawkes[/lastfm] and [lastfm]David Robinson[/lastfm] – are present and shown together in the studio.
There has been no official announcement of a reunion but the band did include a caption with the photo that reads, “Anyone in the mood for a reunion by the Cars?”
When questioned about the possibility by the Boston Globe last week, Hawkes said, “I hate to be vague, but I really can’t say. It’s a crazy world.”
The Cars broke up in 1988. This was followed by the death of original bandmember [lastfm]Benjamin Orr[/lastfm], who died in 2000 of pancreatic cancer. In 2005, Elliot Easton and Greg Hawkes joined with [lastfm]Todd Rundgren[/lastfm], [lastfm]Prairie Prince[/lastfm] and [lastfm]Kasim Sulton[/lastfm] to form the [lastfm]New Cars.[/lastfm]
