[lastfm]Soundgarden[/lastfm] has announced that a new best-of collection called Telephantasm will be included with the purchase of the new Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock video game, which is due out on September 28.
The disc will include tracks from each of Soundgarden’s official releases as well as a previously unreleased track from Badmotorfinger. Telephantasm will also be sold separately as a limited edition vinyl.
In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, guitarist Kim Thayil explained that the band is also slowly collecting material for a career retrospective box set.
“There’s enough stuff out there to fill up three or four albums. There’s enough original stuff that’s been released but hasn’t been compiled – B sides – to make an album. There’s enough covers to make an album. It’s just getting the business and creative machine on the same page,” he says.
“Dirty Candy,” “Ocean Fronts,” “Open Up,” “Summation,” “Beast” and “No Shame” are just a few of the songs Thayil believes will make the cut.
“‘Beast’ and ‘Summation’ were really strong songs live – from the mid-late ’80s, I cannot believe those two songs have never been released. Basically, a box set slowly and surely will happen,” Thayil explains.
