Aretha Franklin Cancels New York Dates With Broken Ribs
[lastfm]Aretha Franklin[/lastfm] has canceled two New York concert dates after breaking two ribs in a fall. The soul legend, who was scheduled to perform two free shows in Brooklyn, has also experienced considerable abdominal pain since the slip-up.
“I was very much looking forward to being in Brooklyn and having a foot-long hot dog at Coney Island,” she said. “Hopefully, I will get it before the end of August,” Franklin told the Detroit Free Press.
The New York performances were to follow Franklin’s much publicized duet with former U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. The two performed together last week at charity event in Philadelphia.
“All of Brooklyn wishes Aretha Franklin a speedy recovery,” Brooklyn borough president Marty Markowitz said, adding that he hopes Franklin can return “when she’s feeling better.”
