[lastfm]Beck[/lastfm] fans may be in for a treat very soon, as the “Loser” star has finished a new album that is currently awaiting release. In a recent interview with Pitchfork, the musician explains that the album has been done for nearly two years and now may be the right time to put it out.
“There’s not anything stopping it . . . I think there’ll be something coming out by the end of summer, even if it’s just a song or two,” Beck says. “Maybe it’s a good idea to just get it out there.”
Even more work from Beck might hit the shelves soon in the form of a collaboration with [lastfm]Pavement[/lastfm] singer [lastfm]Stephen Malkmus[/lastfm]. Beck says that their album together is nearly finished and that the two worked quickly.
“Within the first two days we had 90 percent of the album recorded . . . We just put it down live,” Beck explains.
He also notes that they’re going to “finish it up” once Malkmus wraps up his highly-anticipated Pavement reunion tour. Beck’s most recent full-length album was 2008’s Modern Guilt.
