In the film, Aguilera plays Ali, a small town girl who moves to Los Angeles to pursue her dreams of stardom. After getting a job as waitress at the once grand Burlesque Theater, Ali finds her way to the stage and restores the theater’s former glory.
The film was written by and directed by [lastfm]Steven Antin[/lastfm] along with [lastfm]Diablo Cody[/lastfm], who is best known for her 2007 smash hit film Juno. [lastfm]Cher[/lastfm] co-stars as Tess, the club’s manager and fading star.
Earlier this week Aguilera’s manager and Live Nation exec Irving Azoff tweeted that the film will be worth the wait.
He writes: “Christina fans. Burlesque will blow your minds. Just be patient.”
The film also stars [lastfm]Stanley Tucci[/lastfm], [lastfm]Kristen Bell[/lastfm] and Dancing with the Stars‘ [lastfm]Julianne Hough[/lastfm].
Burlesque is due out in theaters on November 24.
