After two Rockstocks out at the area airport, the Chatham outdoor fest is moving downtown to Tecumseh Park for its third edition.
“It’s a much more central location. It’s right in downtown Chatham,” says Chatham-Kent’s Lachlan Kennedy, Rockstock’s founder, president and promoter.
The two-day fest opens with keyboardist [lastfm]Ray Manzarek[/lastfm], and guitarist [lastfm]Robby Krieger[/lastfm], two of the surviving members of the 1960s’ U.S. rock band [lastfm]The Doors[/lastfm].
The two [lastfm]Doors [/lastfm]stars have fellow Californian and [lastfm]Doors[/lastfm]-legacy tied performer David Brock as the vocalist for the Ray and Robby band. [lastfm]Jim Morrison[/lastfm], the [lastfm]Doors[/lastfm]’ frontman, died in 1971.
London’s Redinger opens the fest on Friday. Former London duo the StandStills, now based in Toronto, play later on the bill, in the slot before the arrival of Manzarek and Krieger.
