[lastfm]Kurt Cobain[/lastfm] may have taken inspiration from a deodorant to write a punk anthem, but now a French perfume company has been inspired by punk to create ‘the scent of anarchy”.
The provocative Parisian perfumery brand Etat Libre D’Orange (the Free State of Orange) has released scents inspired by Tom of Finland and Tilda Swinton and has now created a fragrance that apparently pays tribute to the anarchist spirit of [lastfm]The Sex Pistols.[/lastfm]
The official Sex Pistols fragrance was released in France in May and will be available internationally in September.
According to the manufacturer “you can feel the pure energy, pared down and pumped up by leather, shot through with heliotrope and brought back down to earth by a raunchy patchouli.”
However they caution that “to wear this scent, you must resist tradition, fight conformity, and disregard aromatic conventions.”
The Perfume Shrine blog reports that “the unisex juice… was created by Mathilde Bijaoui from Mane and opens with lemon, grey pepper and ambrette notes. The heart has black plum, aldehydes and heliotrope, drying down to patchouli, orcanox and leather at the base. Luckily not the vomit note of warm beer consumed in punk concert.”
