[lastfm]Soundgarden [/lastfm]bassist [lastfm]Ben Shepherd [/lastfm]has revealed that he is ‘totally broke’ and technically homeless — despite the band reforming this year.
In an interview with Spin magazine the bassist for the Seattle grunge band – who recently topped the bill at the Lollapalooza festival — confirmed that he is technically homeless after breaking up with his girlfriend and has resorted to sleeping wherever he can.
When asked where he lives, he said, “Nowhere. Literally. I’ve been sleeping on studio couches and at friends’ houses. I’m totally broke.”
Shepherd also revealed how hard he took the bands initial break-up, admitting that he got addicted to painkillers.
[pullquote quote=”My whole life seemed over. Soundgarden broke up; my other band, Hater, broke up; my fiancée broke up with me; and then I broke three ribs. I got addicted to pain pills, drank a ton, and wound up OD’ing on morphine. I was laid out in my house for five days, and no one knew it. ” credit=”Ben Shepherd”]
Earlier this year [lastfm]Soundgarden[/lastfm] announced plans to reform after a 13-year absence, as previously reported by Spinner.
