Weezer Organizes Tour Based On The Cult Classic Pinkerton Album
2010 is turning out to be a very busy year for [lastfm]Weezer[/lastfm]. With their upcoming 8th studio album Hurley to be released September 14th, you would believe the band would have its hands full . Well, it turns out the band would like to make this year the “Year of [lastfm]Weezer[/lastfm]!”
The deluxe-edition reissue of their second album Pinkerton will hit stores October 5th and guitarist Brian Bell said the band has plans of a tour featuring all the songs from the cult classic album.
The interview comes from backstage during last week’s Mile High Music Festival in Colorado.
For those who don’t remember Pinkerton, it was the band’s 2nd album which featured a different direction musically. The power pop sound of the band was replaced with a much more darker/emo sound. This was partly due to frontman Rivers Cuomo writing the songs while recovering from a painful leg surgery. The album was considered a flop during its release, however, it has gone to become a cult classic influencing many artists such as Get Up Kids, Motion City Soundtrack, Dashboard Confessional and many more.
