Bono Could Lead A Country, Says Tony Blair
Former U.K. Prime Minister Tony Blair says he thinks[lastfm]U2[/lastfm] frontman Bono could lead a country.
On page 555 of his newly-published memoir, A Journey, Blair says that Bono has the makings to be a prime minister or president. He notes his admiration for the pop star’s ability to cross political lines: “I knew he would work with George [W. Bush] well, and with none of the prissy disdain of most of his ilk. [Bono] could have been a president or prime minister standing on his head.”
Blair adds, “He had an absolutely natural gift for politicking, was great with people, very smart and an inspirational speaker.”
Blair also notes his admiration of Bono’s ability to enter political debates on world hunger and war, as well as his ability to influence world leaders such as Bill Clinton, George Bush, African leaders, and Blair himself.
