janes addiction1 Duff McKagan Leaves Janes Addiction

Former [lastfm]Guns ‘N Roses[/lastfm] bassist [lastfm]Duff McKagan[/lastfm] has stepped down from his post in [lastfm]Jane’s Addiction[/lastfm] after only six months with the band. In a statement, the band says the split is amicable.

“We wanted to thank Duff for helping us write songs for our new record,” the band writes. “We love the songs we worked on with him – and the gigs were a blast – but musically we were all headed in different directions. From here Duff is off to work on his own stuff so we wish him all the best.”

McKagan joined Jane’s Addiction to fill the void left by [lastfm]Eric Avery[/lastfm], who was in the band from 1985 to 1991 and then again from 2008 to 2010. During his tenure with the band McKagan contributed to the sessions for its new album, the first since 2003′s Strays.

Jane’s Addiction debuted a new track from the album called “Soulmate” at a show in Hollywood last May.
