Just when you think [lastfm]Alice in Chains[/lastfm] couldn’t be more awesome, they have a Fantasy Football League
The second year of Alice in Chains & Friends Fantasy Football Charity League has kicked off. The league was put together by AIC guitarist Jerry Cantrell and features big names from both the rock and sports world.
Returning to the charity competition are musicians Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Scott Ian of Anthrax, Vinnie Paul of Pantera, guitarist Zakk Wylde, ex-Guns N’ Roses bassist and recent Jane’s Addiction expat Duff McKagan, along with ESPN’s Matt Willig. Newcomers include Meat Loaf and ESPN anchor Jay Harris.
Cantrell posted a welcome message to the fantasy crew saying: “I would like to thank ESPN for hosting us again and of course all our friends for joining us . . . Good luck everybody, I hope you all lose . . . JC.”
Each participant donates a special item to be auctioned off for charity, with the league winner’s chosen charity benefiting from all the proceeds. Last year, over $10,000 was raised for winner Matt Willig’s chosen charity – St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
