A documentary about the making of Darkness on the Edge of Town…what do you think of the album that The Boss describes as “carved out of a huge chunk of stone and huge amount of ego”?
[lastfm]Bruce Springsteen[/lastfm] has opened up about the making of his 1978 album Darkness on the Edge of Town. The album is the subject of a new documentary that premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival earlier this week.
“Darkness was an angry record, a record carved out of a huge chunk of stone and a huge amount of ego, ambition and hunger,” the Boss said in an interview with actor Edward Norton before the premiere.
The documentary, titled The Promise: The Making of Darkness On The Edge Of Town, was directed by Thom Zimny. It shows Springsteen at a turning point in his career after a three-year legal battle with his record label.
The documentary will air October 7 on HBO and will be included in a CD and DVD box set release of Darkness on the Edge of Town that is due in stores November 16.
