The Super Bowl Halftime Show lineup is always a subject of great anticipation. The NFL has had some pretty big names over the last few years and, if rumors are true, they will once again. Rumor is [lastfm]Black Eyed Peas [/lastfm]will be the entertainment. We were hoping to see Janet again, naturally.
Rumors are swirling that the [lastfm]Black Eyed Peas [/lastfm]will appear as the featured performers during the half-time show of Super Bowl XLV. The NFL championship game will take place on February 6 at the Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
Though neither the NFL nor the Peas have confirmed the gig yet, the band’s appearance at the big game would mark the end of a streak of classic rock performers dating back to 2005.
After [lastfm]Janet Jackson[/lastfm] and [lastfm]Justin Timberlake[/lastfm]‘s highly publicized “wardrobe malfunction” in 2004, the NFL has opted for rock staples including Paul McCartney, the [lastfm]Rolling Stones[/lastfm], [lastfm]Prince[/lastfm], [lastfm]Tom Petty[/lastfm], [lastfm]Bruce Springsteen[/lastfm] and the [lastfm]Who[/lastfm].
The Los Angeles-based hitmakers are currently preparing for the release of their new album The Beginning. The record follows the BEP’s mega-smash 2009 album The E.N.D. and according to member [lastfm]Will.i.am[/lastfm], it “symbolizes growth, new beginnings and starts, fresh new perspective.”
The Beginning is set to hit stores on November 16.
