Glee Cast To Take On R.E.M.’s “Losing My Religion”

rem Glee Cast To Take On R.E.M.s Losing My Religion[lastfm]R.E.M.[/lastfm]‘s 1997 smash “Losing My Religion” will be featured on the upcoming edition of Fox’s hit teen musical show Glee.

The members of the McKinley High School choir will perform the track on Tuesday in an episode titled “Grilled Cheesus.”

During the episode, several characters including Finn and Kurt have religious experiences that inspire them to take on spiritually oriented songs. “Grilled Cheesus” airs at 8 p.m. Eastern.

The episode will feature mix of songs generally revolving around the topic of religion. Other tracks included in the episode will be [lastfm]The Beatles[/lastfm]’ 1963 hit “I Want to Hold You Hand,” [lastfm]Billy Joel[/lastfm]‘s 1997 single “Only the Good Die Young,” [lastfm]Joan Osborne[/lastfm]‘s signature track “One of Us,” and [lastfm]Whitney Houston[/lastfm]‘s “I Look To You” from 2009.

In other news, R.E.M. is currently at work on the follow-up to the highly praised 2008 release Accelerate. Much of the album was recorded in Germany, and it is expected to be released in 2011.
