The newly re-united Soundgarden recently conducted an interview with CNN’s Denise Quan. The four original members sat down with Quan to talk about the reunion and what their plans are for the future. “We were sort of talking about re-releasing our catalog and updating our whole system of how we communicate with our fans, because the band started pre-internet, pre-cell phone, pre-pre-pre-everything,” drummer Matt Cameron said.
“A new generation of rock fans are discovering 30-year-old bands via a game like Guitar Hero,” added vocalist Chris Cornell. “It’s like try to get a larger picture of what we do musically out there to a younger generation.”
The Seattle-based grunge band has work to do after their 13-year hiatus. And while they have released the career spanning hits collection Telephantasm, the band is unsure about their plans to record in the future.
When asked about heading to the studio, guitarist Kim Thayil slyly remarked, “Let’s say ‘yes’ in this interview, and ‘no’ in the next one.”
