Coldplay To Hold Two Secret Christmas Shows To Benefit The Homeless
Oh where oh where will Coldplay be playing???
[lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Coldplay[/lastfm] have announced two surprise Christmas shows in an effort to help the homeless, reports U.K.’s Guardian. The band says they will play for only 1,000 people each night and will announce the venue the day before both shows.
The band hopes to illuminate the plight of the homeless by withholding the venues until the last minute. According to the band, “gig-goers [will experience] a small taste of the uncertainty faced by the thousands of homeless people who do not know where they will spend the night.”
Tickets for the shows will cost £50 (about 80 USD) and go on sale Friday, November 12. Most tickets will be for residents of Liverpool and Newcastle, but there will be a small bundle available for international fans. Both nights, 230 tickets will be sold at auction. Those tickets will include VIP passes along with a champagne reception and meet-and-greet with the band.
[lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Choir With No Name[/lastfm] will serve as the support act for both shows. The choir was founded by homeless people “and other men and women from the very edges of society.” Comedy team [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Ant and Dec[/lastfm] will also be featured at the Newcastle concert.
