[lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Peter Gabriel[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Jimmy Cliff[/lastfm] and [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Sheryl Crow[/lastfm] are all confirmed to appear at an upcoming benefit for the human rights organization WITNESS. The event is set to take place Thursday, December 2 at Roseland Ballroom in New York City.
WITNESS is a group that was co-founded by Gabriel and provides training for human rights activists worldwide. A particular focus of the training involves videography, which Gabriel says is a key element to successful human rights campaigns.
“Video testimony ensures that the suffering of thousands of people all over the world cannot be denied or forgotten. Those voices can be amplified and heard in the places of power and courts of justice,” Gabriel says of the organization’s training programs in a statement.
The event will also feature a silent auction to raise money for WITNESS and a keynote address by Jack Dorsey, co-founder of Twitter.
