The Beatles are just as popular as they were back then.
EMI has revealed sales figures from the [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Beatles[/lastfm]‘ first week on iTunes. After years of negotiations in attempt to bring the Fab Four’s music to their service, Apple’s music store sold over two million individual tracks and 450,000 albums.
According to reports, the top-selling overall album was Abbey Road, which moved 16,000 copies last week. That album was followed by The White Album, which moved 13,000 copies, and Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, which sold 11,000 copies.
A complete box set of all the Beatles’ studio albums also moved an impressive 13,000 copies. The box set sells for $150, and though each set has been counted as one album, it represents the sale of about 210,000 individual albums altogether.
The top individual track sold was “Here Comes the Sun.”
