Are the Black Eyed Peas losing there touch?
The [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Black Eyed Peas[/lastfm]‘ new album, The Beginning, has had a disappointing debut this week. The album was widely expected to top the charts but only sold 119,000 copies, earning it the lowly number six spot on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart.
According to Billboard, the slow start can be credited to the “good-but-not-great response” to its lead single “The Time (Dirty Bit).” The track has peaked at number nine on the Billboard Hot 100.
Most were expecting a repeat in sales numbers of the BEP’s last album, The E.N.D., which opened at number one in 2009. That album sold 304,000 copies its first week out.
[lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Susan Boyle[/lastfm] returned to number one with her album The Gift, which sold 272,000 copies. Last week’s number one album, [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Kanye West[/lastfm]‘s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, slid to number seven with 108,000 copies.
