John Lennon’s Abbey Road Suit Going Up For Auction
As far as[lastfm link_type="artist_info"] Beatles[/lastfm] memorabilia goes, this about takes the cake.
The two-piece white suit worn by [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]John Lennon[/lastfm] in the iconic Abbey Road album cover photo is set to hit the auction block on January 1. The suit, plus the black jacket worn by Lennon in his “Imagine” video, will both be on offer at the Braswell Galleries in Norwalk, Connecticut.
Gallery owner Gary Braswell tells Gibson.com that the owner of the garments purchased them in 2005 for a combined $150,000. Braswell says that the owner has since fallen on financial hardship and needs the cash generated by the auction.
Along with the two famed wardrobe pieces, Braswell will also auction off a car once owned by Lennon and his wife Yoko Ono. The vehicle is a 1972 Chrysler Town and Country station wagon owned by the couple while they lived in New York City.
